Senator Ivana Bacik speaks at the 2009 DIT Socio-Legal Speaker Series
Senator Ivana Bacik, Reid Professor of Criminal Law, Criminology and Penology, Trinity College Dublin gave the first seminar in the 2009 Socio-Legal Speaker Series at the School of Social Sciences and Law, DIT on February 16 2009 at DIT Aungier Street.
The subject of Senator Bacik’s seminar was “Changing Society through Changing Law”. The seminar addressed the relationship between social and legal change in a variety of areas within Senator’s Bacik’s expertise and experience, including reproductive rights, equality rights and the criminal justice system.
The Socio-Legal Speaker series aims to provide a forum to discuss the connections between law, society and social change. The next speaker in the series will be Dr. Mairead Seymour, Senior Lecturer, School of Social Sciences and Law, DIT, who will discuss her research on young people on remand on Monday, April 20 at 11 am, at DIT Mountjoy Square.
