McMorrow Commission to report in March 2011

Ali Bracken in the Sunday Tribune writes that the McMorrow Commission will report in March of this year. The Commission was established to review the circumstances surrounding the death of Gary Douche in Mountjoy Prison, August 2006.

The Commission’s findings are awaited eagerly and the report is likely to represent a critical moment in our understanding of accountability structures in Irish prisons, overcrowding and the treatment of mental illness.

The report should be published by the Minister for Justice without delay.
